Yet while its streets are flooded with tourists and curious onlookers, exhibitions are overcrowded, and the Biennale faces increasing criticism, the possibility of finding an oasis of peace and tranquility seems to be a distant dream […] the arena becomes a true island within the island, far from the hustle and bustle of tourists and the complaints of the Venetians, detached from the chaotic situation in which we find ourselves daily. A reality that Venice would always need, not just for a few months of the year.”
