«ARENA FOR A TREE» - ALSO A SIGN IN THE WAR

"«Arena for a Tree» is announced as a "memorial for endangered nature", as a "totem for the city of today". When we began to plan the appearance of a tree in the context of the exhibition at the National Museum in Zurich, such terms were still differently contoured. The reality of war does not leave the "arena" untouched. Cities with all their civilian facilities have become targets of the Russian military. The army ruthlessly attacks a country and drives citizens to flee.

Nothing is as peaceful as a tree. Not coincidentally, it is invoked in many cultures as a metaphor for life and rootedness. The humanitarian catastrophe we are witnessing must not leave us and our art untouched. Poetry cannot be regulated. Light soaked in yellow and blue hits the tree from below, forms shadows, reshapes the tree sculpture. A tree can – even more: it wants to – stand for peace and the light for solidarity."
